This is the UCSF version of the father of medicine. Note that of the eight provisions of the oath, three of them are history (not to abort, not to cut, not to have sex during house calls) and two more are up for grabs (not to assist suicide and confidentiality). Honoring teachers, supporting their sons and even keeping professional secrets have a quaint ring. But the second: "I will abstain from harming or wronging any man by my powers," also referred to as the PRIMUM NON NOCERE clause is still honored, even in the breach.
