Nora is hired by an insurance agency, who has noticed a recent increase in claims by truck owners. Meanwhile, Penny and Christine have also noticed increased numbers of trucks in for repair/scrap; all whose engines expolded suddenly. Penny immidiately suspects bad black market gas, while Christine is able to find traces of some bacteriological infestation in the trucks' fuel lines. Irene gets a close view of what happens when a truck explodes. There seem to be two areas of contamination, one around the Burbank studios, and one around the San Pedro naval base. Nora audits the studio's books, while Irene uses her wiles on her driver, who turns out to be selling gas on the black market and replacing it using his contact at the naval base. After Nora cuts a deal with one of the insurees, she gets the name of his contact in San Pedro; petty officer Craig Cook, in Supply. The whole group piles into one of Penny's trucks, along with Red Cross supplies and official. PO Cook is wheeling and dealing, and manages to get a date out of Irene. His office is too crowded to rifle through. The whole group gets a tour of the base, too, but the main conclusion is that it is really big, with many, many tanks of diesel fuel. It dawns on people that this could be a plot directed against the Pacific Fleet! On the way back, Nora, Mae, and Christine stop by the office of Professor Robert Copeland at UCLA, who Christine has identified as an authority on the kind of bacteria the group is pursuing. The professor has gone home early, as he's not been feeling well lately. After a visit to his home, it becomes clear he is suffering from nervousness and a missing daughter. The source of his unease becomes clear when the professor's minder, who had been watching the front door, shows up, and is rendered unconscious by Swan Mae when he tries to wave a big machine pistol around. The gunman is rapidly identified as a Nazi, and the professor confesses, after a little logical persasion, to handing over samples of his bug because they are holding his daughter hostage. The rest of the group is assembled, once Irene gets done with her date, and successfully shadow the Nazi pickup guy (Irene by riding in the same car) to the San Pedro base, and then to the Nazi's secret warehouse. While scouting the warehouse, Penny and Mae are propositioned by the door guard, and after dealing with him, the fight begins. Despite putting a lot of lead in the air, the Nazi saboteurs are easily dealt with by righteous American womanhood. Irene rescues the hostage, for a tearful reunion with her father, ane everyone else melts into the night, leaving Penny to explain the warehouseful of unconscious Nazis.
