Notes

Sophia learned the medical art from her father, an Greek (though native to Alexandria) physician of some note. Having no sons, he educated his daughter in the Greek tradition. Then he died, leaving her to continue in his place. Unfortunately Alexandria was not ready for a female doctor. Not only was she ostracized by her peers, certain people, jealous of her abilities started nasty rumors that she had been making bargains with evil spirits. Even her stubborness began to wear thin, and when she encountered the magi (educated) heading into the interior, she joined along.

Sophia has a natural talent at healing, or perhaps this is only the result of being exposed to her father's practice from a very early age. This talent has been reinforced through her studies of Galen and other books owned by her father.

Sophia is small in stature, and heartbreakingly beautiful, with Mediterranean dark hair and flashing dark eyes, and somewhat sharp, fine features.

She wears practical clothes, and her hair is usually carelessly bound up. She has a serious demeanor, and always seems busy.
