Check out Tank McNamara, a comic strip about sports that is often quite funny.
I got certified at a shop called Ocean Odyssey Dive Centre in Santa Cruz, CA. They were terrific. I did both my open water and Nitrox certification classes there. Unfortunately, they're no longer around.
I've dived with folks from another shop in Santa Cruz, called Adventure Sports Unlimited (in fact, I used to live across the street from them). I can't vouch for their training, but I like the people. It's not just a dive shop, as they do a lot of kayaking and such. They have their own swimming pool on the premises, and teach swim lessons as well as dive classes there.
We're active supporters of the Divers Alert Network, an organization that promotes dive safety and dive medicine. They offer terrific insurance for divers. We wouldn't dive without that!
We often dive in Monterey Bay, where we often patronize Aquarius Dive Shop. We also love to dive at Point Lobos -- reservations required!
We also love to dive in the Channel Islands, off the boats of Truth Aquatics.
We haveee dived a number of incredible places overseas, too, including Micronesia (Truk, Palau), Fiji, Australia, Papua New Guinea, and Mexico.
I used to manage and play for a team in a company league, called OOPs. I also managed and played for another team in a private league, called the Otters. My current employer sponsors teams now and then, so I get to play some.
I currently play for a team in Pleasant Hill, called Bump in the Night.
Not much lately, though I'd like to.
I also like to watch sports (preferably in person, but also on television).
My favorite teams are

The San Francisco Giants Baseball is my favorite sport, but I was never good enough to play. I have season tickets at their new stadium, Pacific Bell Park. Drop by and say hello at Section 121, Row 36, seats 7 & 8! And a friend finally convinced me to join a fantasy baseball league online at SmallWorld Sports. It's kinda fun! |

| Australian cricket is something I started following during a work trip to Sydney, and my interest has grown over time. Go figure. The Aussies are the top side in the world, both in Test cricket and the one-day international game. |
